as usual don't read this if ur not interested in depictions of violence, gore, sa, and abuse.
set in 2007 (shut up.) basically a surrealist version of hollywood where there's just monsters and demonic
entities and cultists and shit wandering around and no one rlly thinks twice about it.
the most desperate, fame-hungry, gutter-dwelling people in the city might turn to the
help of a certain group of bloodsucking freaks to achieve their dreams, trading their humanity
for a chance at fame. of course, it rarely works out. on the other hand, some are unwillingly dragged into their ranks
through a wrong turn, a regretable meeting, or a deal gone bad, like our unfortunate protagonist.

JOSEPH
an unemployed failed former child actor living in a run down motel in the city.
who's also a vampire and regretably is in debt to the vampire mob. its a long story.
got out of a Really Bad Relationship 5 years ago and still isn't over it,
but at least he inherited a suspicious amount of wealth from that psycho after his death.
(that joey had nothing to do with whatsoever).
loves: 80s britpop, spreading fake conspiracy theories online, harassing wannabe actors,
and wearing hideous, brightly colored fur coats
(he can't overheat because... yknow).
hates people who come to the city to get rich and famous.
RIO
came to the city to get rich and famous.
a one-girlboy electronic pop show.
he's completely oblivious to the darker side of the city, even when he's directly confronted with it. also extremely naive and has 0 survival instincts.
Kind of stupid but also optimistic and always good-natured. Of course, he still has his own issues that he doesn't rlly see as problems.
A hopeless romantic, not so good at social signals...
frequently starts fights, never wins them. tends to jump into things without thinking them through.
Very creative and experimental, never wants to be restricted. maybe a little too self confident in comparison to his musical abilities.

ELIJAH
joseph's (gruesomely murdered) evil ex. a vampire of ambiguous age who drifted from place to place
pretending to be a broke poet but was actually drowning in money.
met joseph when the kid was 17 and desperate to get away from his miserable life. elijah knew right away:
that vulnerable minor was the soulmate he needed in his life. they were going to do great things together!
he was tired of the corruption and evil within the vampire nest (and his crippling debt) so
he planned to run away and take joseph with him, and they'd live happily ever after! the only catch was that
he needed to turn joseph, so that he'd never die and leave elijah alone again.
but obviously things didn't go as planned. deep down, elijah was obsessive, eratic, and prone to
violent outbursts, and the withdrawals from lack of blood didn't help. poor joseph got a bit scared when the man's
true nature started to show and he realized who he was stuck with. elijah wasn't going to let go of his plan without a fight, though.
HOLLY
owner of a haunted antique / knicknack shop near the motel where joseph lives. he's her favorite customer,
despite the strong scent of blood he always leaves behind.
she knows about the darker things going on in the city but doesn't get involved with it.
regularly has to tolerate demons and cultists due to her customer base- they come looking for haunted items often.
cautious of joseph at first but grows to like him because she knows he's not really one of them.
FAWZIA
costume store co-owner & holly's hippie roommate. doesn't take dark magic and demons as seriously as she should.
THE DETECTIVE
(aka Marie.)
deranged conspiracy theorist who has a personal vendetta against vampires and all the other evil creatures in the city.
keeps track of and reports on suspicious events on her favorite forums (which joey often makes fake posts on).
has a VERY MILD hero complex.
quickly become suspicious of joseph and decides to "keep tabs on him".
has a crush on fawzia, who she thinks is innocent and naive and needs to be protected
so she goes to parties with her to keep away any sinister devils she might run into.
JOSEPH'S MOTHER
always dreamed of making her son famous, and threw away his whole childhood (and piles of money) to achieve that dream.
unfortunately, he had terrible stage fright and, frankly, was a terrible actor. her dreams were finally
crushed when her son ran away at age 17 with a strange middle aged man. there went her future as a rich mother of a star living
in a million doller mansion in indonesia. and then her husband asked for a divorce. damn it.
still wandering around the city, but refuses to acknowledge joseph's existence.
